Hi! I’m Cara Grace Powell, the happy creative behind f8 Photo Studios. I’m so glad you’re here! f8 (pronounced “fate”) has been my heart’s work and passion for the last 17 years. With a background in fine art, commercial photography, marketing, and graphic communications, I’m doing what I was made for in capturing beautiful, striking images that tell your story. I know how important it is to get to know the person behind the business, so consider this an invite to a virtual coffee date with me. Grab a cup of something good, and allow me to introduce myself!

Love drives what I do. Photography isn’t just my job, it’s my joy and passion! I’ve spent two decades studying the market and sharpening my craft. I’ve led a team of associates and photographed for hundreds of clients.  For me, it’s not just about capturing beautiful images, it’s about enjoying the one life we get to live, making good memories, and daring to go after your dreams. 

I’m a romantic at heart and am always rooting on the side of love. I took a leap of faith in 2004 to become one of the few female photographers in the Triangle, specializing in weddings. I went on on to build a team of associates, becoming one of the leading photography studios in the southeast, winning multiple awards, and capturing the memories of happy clients all along the way. It was kismet. In 2018 I married the love of my life, and work began to take on a new meaning in the context of family. While I will always love weddings, I am so excited to focus on lifestyle, commercial, and headshot photography in this new season of my life.

Along with transitioning my photography to focus solely on lifestyle, commercial, and headshot photography, my husband and I are thrilled to announce our newest adventure — a beautiful, historic home in Apex that we are renovating as the Triangle’s premier event venue. The Upchurch is a natural cross section of my passions and next step in my career. I am so excited to continue growing my love for people, helping them make memories, and giving back to the community. It is our honor to give new life to this home and create an intentional, beautiful space for vendors and clients alike. Stay up to date with The Upchurch here!
